  2. Thank you Wes. Yes, Blanche is great. I heard her give a talk live at IMC, and I found her very inspiring. A 'grande dame' of Zen, with a great sense of humor . . .

Hi Marguerite. For some reason, I can't use the comment form on your
blog so I'll leave a comment here. First, thank you for posting on
great women Buddhist teachers. These women represent a remarkable
"pivot point" in the history of Buddhism. Second, I thought you might
like to include Zen Master Soeng Hyang (Barbara Rhodes) who is the
School Zen Master for the Kwan Um School of Zen. In this role, she has
oversight responsibility for the 12 other Zen masters in the school,
as well as for the many other teachers in this tradition. I'm not
aware of any other Western woman who has taken on responsibility at
this level. And - most important - she's a remarkable teacher. Thanks
    again! Barry

Soeng Hyang Soen Sa Nim (born April 15, 1948) is a Zen Master and the
Guiding Teacher of the international Kwan Um School of Zen, and
successor to the late Seung Sahn Soen Sa Nim.

  4. I find Joko Beck to be a wonderful, clear Zen teacher as is Tenzin Palmo in the Tibetan tradition.
